Wheelchairs to the Rescue is operated by the men of the Allentown Rescue Mission’s Clean Team Workforce. They acquire wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches through property & estate cleanouts conducted by the Clean Team Workforce, as well as donations. The men gather, clean, and organize the mobility items for distribution to Joni and Friends’ Wheels for the World program that provides life-changing mobility and hope of the Gospel to people impacted by disability worldwide. Nearly one billion people worldwide live with a disability and many live in poverty and pain and experience social isolation. The gift of a wheelchair or mobility device provides those suffering with the opportunity to navigate life more easily and with dignity. Wheelchairs to the Rescue offers the men employed by the Clean Team Workforce a way to give back after being blessed by their community and keeps the mobility equipment out of landfills.
