Jose arrived at the Allentown Rescue Mission seeking shelter after he exhausted all of his financial resources trying to save his mother-in-law’s house from foreclosure. Unfortunately, his attempt was unsuccessful, and they both lost their homes. Jose’s wife and children found housing at a shelter for women and children, and he came to the Allentown Rescue Mission.
After a short stay in the Emergency Shelter, Jose joined the Transformation Program. Interested in all that the eight-week program offered, he excelled at learning new life skills including resume building and budgeting and received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Jose graduated from the Transformation Program in February, was hired by the Clean Team Workforce, and proved himself as a lead worker. He now has his own crew that he works with and is responsible for the outcome of the job. Jose likes staying busy. He recently completed a forklift certification class at LCTI with the help of the Allentown Rescue Mission’s Educational Scholarship Fund while working for the Clean Team Workforce during the day.
Everything Jose has accomplished has been with one goal in mind, to reunite with and support his wife and children. He is hopeful he can put his newly acquired forklift operator certificate to use and find a good-paying job. With a new career on the horizon and his new found faith, Jose feels confident that he is taking the right steps to improve his family’s life.
The Allentown Rescue Mission congratulates Jose and wishes him the best. The Clean Team Workforce is proud to have him as its April Employee of the Month.
