You have helped stock our pantry for another year! (Allentown, PA)—The Allentown Rescue Mission’s 2019 Thanks for Giving food and supplies drive is now complete and it was a success! With your help, we were able to fill our pantry with 37,491 pounds of food! On November 23rd, volunteers for the Allentown Rescue Mission were located at six different GIANT food store locations around the Lehigh Valley collecting non-perishable food items and supplies from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We also had a total of 95 outside food and supplies collection drives which helped contribute to the grand total as well.
After totaling up the amount of donations from that day and all of the donations from the outside drives, the amount of food donated to the Mission was astounding! The Thanks for Giving drive is the Allentown Rescue Mission’s largest fundraiser. It helps stock the Mission’s pantry for the year to come so we can continue feeding homeless and hungry men. Last year, the Mission was able to serve over 55,000 meals and this year, due to the amount of donations, we are able to beat that!
We want to give a big thank you to all those who helped with this event! Thanks for caring and Thanks for Giving! Since 1900, The Allentown Rescue Mission has fed multitudes of hungry and hurting men. Today we embrace all those experiencing homelessness with the compassion of Jesus Christ. We believe He has given us all a second chance in life-we’ve been saved, rescued and now get to provide that same hope and renewal to others here in the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding communities.
