Justin C. had his own photography and music business in 2022, but he bit off more than he
could chew. To keep up with the demands on his time, he began using, and then abusing,
Adderall. Consequently, Justin lost his business and spent time in the hospital to process
what had happened. Upon being released from the hospital, he lived with his sister and
ailing mother for a few weeks, but it became too much, and his sister directed him to the
Allentown Rescue Mission.
While Justin was in the Emergency Shelter, he began to feel better about himself because
he was no longer dependent on drugs to keep him focused. He learned about the eight-
week Transformation Program and decided to give it a try. He initially stated that he “didn’t
have faith he would succeed in the program,” but he continued one day at a time until
eventually the eight weeks were over, and he graduated from the program. “I was alone
before the Mission and now I have people in my life that I care about again. I’m not alone
anymore,” Justin told the Transformation Program staff.
Justin began working on the Clean Team Workforce after graduation and is excited about
his future. He would like to continue writing music, “stay stable and focused,” continue to
follow God, and eventually get married. Justin also would like to give back to others
because he feels like he has been given so much.
