Changing Lives One Haircut at a Time

An act of giving something to others is an art of flowering your heart

Seven years ago, the Allentown Rescue Mission put an article in their monthly newsletter looking for someone that was a licensed hairstylist willing to volunteer their time to cut the men’s hair. Jennifer Anders immediately responded to the article, and a connection between her and the Mission was made.

Jennifer started as a hairstylist after graduating from Upper Bucks Vo-Tech High School in 1995. Working for the Quakertown Hair Cuttery for the past 22 years, Jennifer has skillfully achieved the position as the Senior Designer II for the salon. On average she provides 9 to 11 cuts per month, 108 per year, and a total of 756, and still counting.  Jennifer has blessed the men at the Rescue Mission with a total savings of over $16,632.00 at $22 per hair cut by doing it for free.

Jennifer has been coming to the Mission on monthly basis every Wednesday on her day off for the past seven years, and says that she will continue to come because doing this gives her heart an art of flowering.
