Books to the Rescue

FROM THE MEN AT THE ALLENTOWN RESCUE MISSION

Studies have found that early learning in kindergarten and first grade forms the foundation of the entire educational process, and, as a result of the pandemic, many of our most vulnerable students are falling behind. To help create that foundation, we’ve chosen to collect elementary-level books through our Books to the Rescue program. Books to the Rescue is operated by the men of the Allentown Rescue Mission. They acquire early learning books, through donations,  and distribute them to elementary schools where teachers pass them along to their most needy students. The men in our Transformation Program collect, catalogue, classify, and organize donated books for distribution.  The program offers a way for these men to give back to the community that has so generously blessed them.

OUR APPEAL TO THE COMMUNITY

The Allentown Rescue Mission is asking donors to drop off new or gently-used elementary level books you have.  Many people have them stored in the attic or basement, and this is the perfect time to put them to good use and help the next generation.

Books can be dropped off at: Allentown Rescue Mission 355 Hamilton Street, Allentown PA 18101.

If you have any questions, or would like more information, contact Stefanie, Community Relations, at 610-740-5500 x349, or email books@armpa.org.
