What We Do

Since 1900, the Allentown Rescue Mission has rescued, rehabilitated, and restored men in crisis across the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Our approach is both practical and spiritual, meeting immediate needs while addressing root causes through the power of Christ.

Men in our care have access to a variety of services to meet their physical, mental, and spiritual needs.

Our Three Core Programs

Men in crisis receive warm meals, hot showers, clean clothes, and respite from the hardships of the streets.

Clients are given life skills, workforce skills, and Bible classes to help them reclaim their lives.

Employees perform a variety of jobs, earn wages, and save money as they transition back into the community.

Additional Programs & Services

Since 2007, DeSales University has offered medical services to our clients.

Chapel services provide opportunities for the men to hear multiple voices speaking God’s Truth, as well as offering local churches and ministries the opportunity to minister to our men.

Books to the Rescue is a program operated by the men of the Allentown Rescue Mission to acquire, through donations, early learning books and distribute them to local elementary schools for the teachers to pass along to their most needy students.

Therapeutic Art Classes allow men in our Transformation Program to embark on a painting adventure with an on-staff instructor, learning to express themselves via art.
