When David S. entered the Transformation Program, he confessed, “Everything in my life was dysfunctional. I was a dysfunctional partner, son, brother, and friend.” He admitted that he only focused on himself and had a hard time controlling his anger.
As a result, his girlfriend kicked him out of the hotel they were living in, and he didn’t have anything or anyone to fall back on. He wasn’t working and had an inconsistent work history. His anger undermined his relationships with friends and family. He was involved in a lot of physical altercations.
Once at the Mission, David decided he wanted to “start new” and the Transformation Program helped him achieve his goal. As classes progressed, David’s perspective slowly started to change. He said, “I learned to look at things in a more positive light where before I only saw the negative.” Mission staff helped uncover unhealthy patterns from his past that were detrimental to David, and he started to acknowledge and take responsibility for his actions.
It wasn’t an easy road for David, but he endured, learned from his mistakes, and graduated from the Program. He currently works for the Clean Team Workforce and has picked up an additional job at a local restaurant.
David’s goals are to sharpen his culinary skills so he can possibly open his own restaurant. He is also excited to marry his girlfriend with whom he is going to have twins very soon.
