Giving Back in More Ways Than One

(Allentown, PA)—It is the season for giving and this season we have had a few companies give back to the Allentown Rescue Mission in some creative ways. People’s Security, Buckno Lisicky & Company, and Queen City FOP Lodge 10, all gave back to the Mission after holding some type of event or starting a new tradition.

People’s Security is new to the Lehigh Valley area but after hearing about the work the Allentown Rescue Mission does, their company decided to put together a grant project and donated to the Mission. “We are pleased to be part of a program which provides such vital services. The approach taken by your organization has not only saved lives but has helped many individuals transition into better lives,” says managing director William Calpin.

Buckno Lisicky & Company recently donated to the Mission after their company held a dress down day. Each employee paid $5 to dress down in the office on a Friday and with their payment they were able to list an organization they would like to donate to. The company then gathered all the money and drew a name of an employee and their organization. Terri Gist of the Bethlehem office was the winner and her charity was the Allentown Rescue Mission. Buckno holds this fundraiser and donates to four different organizations throughout the year and we have been grateful to be chosen twice this year!

Queen City FOP Lodge 10 recently donated to the Allentown Rescue Mission after hosting a “No shave November” that extended into December. Throughout the months, the men did not shave their facial hair and they donated what money they would spend on barbers and shaving supplies to a charity to raise cancer awareness and awareness for other men’s health issues. This year, they donated the money raised to the Allentown Rescue Mission.

We would like to thank these businesses and all others who have donated to the Mission. Visit our website, https://www.allentownrescuemission.org/ways-to-help to see how you can help or plan an event of your own. Donating can be fun and creative and there are many ways you can donate.

Since 1900, The Allentown Rescue Mission has fed multitudes of hungry and hurting men. Today we embrace all those experiencing homelessness with the compassion of Jesus Christ. We believe He has given us all a second chance in life-we’ve been saved, rescued and now get to provide that same hope and renewal to others here in the Lehigh Valley and the surrounding communities.
