Jeff is a graduate of the Transformation Program, and he talks about how his life changed thanks to the Allentown Rescue Mission. He uses every opportunity he can to give back to the place that helped him.
Jeff had difficulties with alcohol and drug abuse for some time. He took it upon himself to enter rehab. When he left, he had nowhere to go; he turned to the Allentown Rescue Mission and joined the Transformation Program. “The program kept me spiritually fit,” says Jeff. “It helped me learn how to face life.”
Jeff thanks the Allentown Rescue Mission because without them, he would not have been able to get a job. “While I was in the program, I was able to attend classes to get my CDL.” Jeff graduated the program in 2014 and has been a donor to the place that gave him hope.
Jeff and his wife support the Allentown Rescue Mission by volunteering and donating throughout the year. They both volunteer annually at the Allentown Rescue Mission’s Spaghetti Dinner, and Jeff even tells his story on the WAEB-70 radiothon. They also periodically donate food and clothing for the men. Jeff says he will continue to support the Allentown Rescue Mission because he can never repay them for their help.
“The Allentown Rescue Mission kept me spiritually fit. They helped me keep my feet on the ground, and they kept me humble,” says Jeff. “I am living proof that the Allentown Rescue Mission does change lives.”
The advice that Jeff offers to those who want to help is to donate. “The money is not wasted. They use all the funds to better the men they are helping.” Jeff also suggests if you see a man who is lost, send him to the Allentown Rescue Mission. “It is the place to go to get help. You will have to put in work, but the work is satisfying.”
Thank you, Jeff, for your continued support of the Allentown Rescue Mission. We appreciate all the hard work you have done and the generosity you have to give back to others.
