Thank you for bringing GREAT JOY to hurting men – You changed Richard’s life!
Richard was living with his brother and working on the third shift. But then his vehicle broke down and he had to walk several hours to another town for a doctor’s appointment.
While he was there, he got stranded, was fired from his job because he couldn’t get back to work and had no place to go due to a falling out with his brother.
“I ended up homeless in that town so I went to the local mission there. I went to chapel a couple of times and realized I needed Christ in my life.”
Richard soon realized the shelter wasn’t a good fit for him and began looking for a faith-based program where he could grow closer to the Lord.
The day he walked into the Allentown Rescue Mission, everything changed for Richard.
“I began healing spiritually and physically, being among other brothers,” he says, smiling. “They helped strengthen my resolve to know Christ better.”
Richard entered our Transformation Program, where the daily routine and support of his brothers helps him stay on track.
“I need to keep my faith in Christ. Stay in the Word and follow His teachings to direct my life.”
He’s now working on the Clean Team and saving money. He wants to go to school to get his truck driving license so he can have a stable job. “It’s making me ecstatic yet calm, knowing this is where Christ wants me to go.”
Richard has restored relationships with his family members, and they are amazed at the changes in his life.
“I’m getting rid of my pride and learning to treat everybody like I’d want them to treat me. Showing my faith for them to come to the Lord.”
This year, Richard will be celebrating Christmas as a new creation, filled with the great joy of God’s love. “I have faith that Christ will see me through what He wants of me. I’m hopeful.”
