“Sole Searching” Leads Doctor to the Allentown Rescue Mission

The Allentown Rescue Mission is proud to announce that Jose Loor, DPM, a
board-certified podiatrist, has joined its volunteer team, providing free foot and ankle care to men
experiencing homelessness through the Mission’s in-house DeSales Free Medical Clinic. The invaluable
work of both DeSales University and Dr. Loor provides treatment to men who otherwise may not seek
care.

Dr. Loor earned a BA in Natural Science from Fordham University, an MBA from Adelphi University, an
MHA from Cornell University, and his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Touro University New York
College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his podiatric surgical residency at Touro
University/Metropolitan Hospital HHC Harlem and Lincoln Hospital HHC, followed by a fellowship in
podiatric radiology and advanced imaging, and an AO orthopedic trauma preceptorship at NY Cornell
Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Loor is married and a father of five (three sons and two daughters). He is a Captain in the U.S. Army
Reserve, serving with the Medical Support Unit 7202 (and previously the 4220th unit). He began his
civilian career in 2009, opening a podiatry practice in New York and eventually expanding to multiple
locations.

After experiencing burnout during the pandemic, Dr. Loor closed his offices and moved to Pennsylvania.
A fellow parishioner at his church introduced him to the Allentown Rescue Mission. “I wanted to start
working with people who needed me and then get back into the business sector,” Dr. Loor stated about
his motivation to volunteer.

Dr. Loor has been volunteering in the DeSales Free Medical Clinic at the Allentown Rescue Mission since
January 2026. The clinic, operated by DeSales University, focuses on the treatment of acute illness,
prevention, and the management of chronic illnesses. Men often arrive at the Allentown Rescue
Mission with foot trauma due to inadequate footwear, excessive walking, and medical conditions that
affect the feet, making podiatry the most requested medical specialty.

Since volunteering at the Mission, Dr. Loor has begun subcontracting at local nursing homes and has
restarted his private practice, DeLoor Podiatry, with a home office in Northampton, PA, and two offices
in New York City.
