The Clean Team Workforce Challenges Employees to Promote Earth Day

In observance of Earth Day 2022, the Allentown Rescue Mission’s Clean Team Workforce hopes to raise awareness about keeping the environment clean by inviting its employees to participate in a “Bag Challenge” during the month of April.  The Clean Team Workforce picks up litter daily in downtown Allentown under contract by the City of Allentown.  Men participating in the contest are competing to see who can fill the most trash and recycling bags on their regular work routes in the downtown area.

Participants are divided into two teams to compete in the contest. The Allentown Rescue Mission is tracking the number of bags each team collects and the group with the most bags at the end of the month will win a gift card to an eatery of their choice.

The Allentown Rescue Mission will post contest updates on Facebook and then announce the winning team at the beginning of May.

About The Clean Team Workforce

The Clean Team Workforce is a workforce development program offered by the Allentown Rescue Mission to transition men into full-time, sustained employment. Participants are paid above Pennsylvania state minimum wage and perform real work in the community while learning life skills and workplace values. Interior demolition, light landscaping, property clean-outs, painting, event set-ups, and litter collection are a few examples of what the Clean Team Workforce is hired to do. By the time the men leave the Clean Team Workforce, they’ve typically saved enough money for an apartment, secured permanent employment, and have been restored as productive members of the community.
