We recently said goodbye to Dmytro, a prime example of a man who needed a second chance and used his time with us to help others. Dmytro, or “Sonny” as he was affectionately known, was sent to us after he made a mistake. His feelings of remorse might have led him to his change of heart.
Dmytro volunteered seven days a week doing laundry, cleaning and disinfecting, and assisting with our meal service. He also welcomed the men coming into our shelter by providing them with toiletry kits and clean bed linens. He never complained when he was given a task or slacked off.
He has rejoined his wife and children. We wish him the best of luck and hope he continues to influence those around him positively.
