Food Shortage Hits Hard
Many area food banks have been hit hard by the increased need among working poor people. The high price of gas and food has forced more people into a crisis, just to feed their families. You may have seen some of the news reports on skyrocketing food prices worldwide, and the worst shortages in 30 years in some areas. Some of our neighbors, right here in Allentown and the Lehigh Valley are hungry. No one should be hungry in America.
Please donate the food items listed here to the Mission, or other area food banks listed below. The Mission works closely with other food banks and shelters. If we get a lot of a food item, we share. If we get baby items or foods we cannot use, we give them to other agencies that can use them. Helping any one of us can help all of us.
You can drop off food and supplies at the Mission any week day, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or call Bill Dickinson at 610-740-5500, ext. 14, for other times or arrangements.

Wheels of Time Street Rod Association
One of the many loyal supporters of the Allentown Rescue Mission is the Wheels of Time Street Rod Assoc. It all began 30 years ago when 12 young men started a car club specifically dedicated to the hobby of street rodding. In 1979, the decision was made to hold annual car shows. In its 30 year history it has grown to be the largest show on the east coast run completely by volunteers. The organization makes donations to local charities such as the Allentown Rescue Mission, Good Shepherd Home, ARC Association, Bethany Children's Home and others. They also sponsor a scholarship program for young men and women pursuing further education in the automotive field.
